In a recent study by Jupiter Media Matrix over 55% of all Internet purchases begin with a search engine. However, 93% of these consumers did not look past the first two pages of the search results. Therefore, if you are not listed in the first two pages of the search results, then you may as well not be listed there at all. The single most important thing you can do to increase your Internet website new client generation, is to join our top positioned, city specific, legal directories! Why the Internet is generating new clients: If you have a small to mid-size firm, Internet new client generation is absolutely critical to your success. Many firms have their own websites. The majority of legal websites are one to five pages and very basic as to design and functionality. The common mis-conception among many legal practitioners is that an investment in flashy design and submission to the search engines is the route to generating new Internet business. Some time down the road, many wonder why when specific keyword phrases are entered into a major search engine, their firm is no where to be found. Or, perhaps after such a search, the results show the firm’s site back on page 59. You spent the money for a good looking site; you have the bios for all the attorneys, pictures of the staff, contact forms, email and phone information and a high-tech looking Flash intro page. Why is your site ranked so low? The simple answer is: web design firms are NOT Search Engine Optimization firms. When a web design firm takes on the specialized area of search optimization, the results are almost always dismal. Search engine positioning is so effective; it has generated a whole new industry. The Search Engine Optimization industry is flourishing. The mission of these firms is to get their client’s websites positioned on page one or two, for the specific key word phrases related to the firm’s practice areas.
Your decision to join our Internet legal directories can make or break your entire online new client marketing plan. To survive on the web you must purposefully promote your site with a proven online marketing strategy. Being listed in our directories becomes imperative! A study commissioned by RealNames has provided a variety of statistics related to searching, including: + Over 75 percent of web users use search engines to traverse the web. + Half of web users spend more 70 percent or more of their time searching online. + 70 percent of those surveyed know specifically what they are looking for when they use a search engine. + 44 percent of web users say they are frustrated with web navigation and search engine use. + When unable to find what they are looking for, most web users will try another search engine, but nearly 20 percent completely give up. The study was conducted in April by Berrier Associates, for RealNames. Over 1,000 people aged 18-49 were surveyed by phone, with a nearly equal number of men and women sampled. Only those who use the web for five or more hours per week were included in the survey. Currently, we do some optimization work for real estate firms and small legal firms, but the vast majority of our business is directed to our fourteen legal directories. Our attorney client’s results through our directories have proven to not only be far more cost effective compared to Yellow Page advertising, but also compared to a costly optimization program of their own firm’s website. What is surprising to us is the amount of scepticism still prevalent among legal practitioners about the effectiveness of the Internet to generate new business. Some times old habits die hard!
