Below I have listed a few interesting and little know functions you can perform through www.google.com

A. Go to www.google.com and type in site: then your domain name. So for yahoo.com, you’d type in “site: yahoo.com”.

The results will show you which pages of your site are showing up in Google.

Below is what we did for our San Francisco/Oakland legal directory:

site:san-francisco-oakland-bay-area-lawyers-attorneys-directory.com

Below is what Google showed, along with a listing of each of our 68 pages.

B. This search will tell you pages that Google considers similar to yours. It will also show sites that it considered linked to you, and show sites that carry your full url, hyper linked or not. It’s not 100% accurate, but it will give you a much better idea than you’d get from guessing - and it’s free.

Go back to Goggle’s home page - www.google.com - and type in info:yoursitenameandsuffix. So if your site was ExactSeek.com you’d type info:www.exactseek.com. You can also use site:yoursitenameandsuffix to find out which pages have been indexed by Google’s search engine spider.

Google can show you the following information for this URL:

• Find web pages that link to www.san-francisco-oakland-bay-area-lawyers-attorneys-directory.com
• Find web pages that contain the term "www.san-francisco-oakland-bay-area-lawyers-attorneys-directory.com"

C. Lastly, though this is not Google related, it is seasonally related.

Copyrights - At the bottom of many Web pages is a claim of copyright. When the calendar rolls over to the New Year, hundreds of millions of Web pages instantly appear out of date because the copyright year isn’t current. Make sure your copyright dates get updated immediately after the calendar changes.
